The Boston Terrier Club of America (BTCA) is set to hold its 130th National Specialty event from April 28 to May 2 at the Owensboro Convention Center. This highly anticipated competition will showcase top-tier Boston Terriers and attract hundreds of visitors from across the U.S. and internationally.
Dubbed “Run for the Rosettes,” the event promises a wide array of competitions, including Futurity, Sweepstakes, Conformation, Obedience, Agility, Performance, and the prestigious Boston Terrier of the Year award. The schedule also includes obedience and rally trials, a junior showmanship contest, puppy and veteran sweepstakes, a beginner puppy competition, and participation in the AKC National Owner-Handled Series.
Dominic Koon, president of the BTCA, highlighted the National Specialty as the premier event for Boston Terrier enthusiasts, with entries expected from over 20 states and several countries, including England, Canada, and Australia. “The Nationals typically feature nearly 200 dogs in conformation alone,” Koon noted.
Mark Calitri, president of Visit Owensboro, emphasized the significance of hosting the event, calling it a testament to Owensboro’s standing as a top destination for national competitions. “Boston Terrier owners will experience our world-class facilities, friendly community, and vibrant riverfront,” Calitri said.
Owensboro’s Mayor, Tom Watson, expressed his pride in welcoming the event to the city. “Our hospitality, stunning riverfront, and unique community atmosphere will leave visitors with a memorable experience,” Watson added.
Daviess County Judge-Executive Charlie Castlen shared similar enthusiasm, viewing the event as an opportunity to showcase the region’s offerings. “From our parks and hotels to our local restaurants and attractions, we hope the BTCA will feel right at home during their visit,” Castlen remarked.
