Boston Terrier Rescued from Underneath Government Dock in North Bay

by Doreen Miller

A heartwarming rescue took place Wednesday afternoon when a Boston Terrier was freed from beneath the Government Dock on the north shores of Lake Nipissing. The North Bay Fire Department and North Bay Police Service collaborated in the rescue after a passerby heard the dog whimpering and alerted authorities.

Firefighters used a dinghy to access the dock and reach the frightened dog. With the help of a dog catcher pole, they managed to pull the animal to safety. Although initially resistant, the dog seemed to calm down once it was on solid ground and gratefully accepted a granola bar offered by a North Bay Police officer.

The dog appeared to be in good health and was transported to the Humane Society for further care. Police are asking for the public’s help in locating the dog’s owner and urge anyone with information to contact the North Bay Humane Society.
