The French bulldog has secured its place as the most popular dog breed in the United States for the third consecutive year, according to the American Kennel Club (AKC). The breed continues to captivate dog lovers across the country, maintaining its dominance in the rankings.
Following closely in second place is the Labrador retriever, with the golden retriever rounding out the top three. The top 10 most popular breeds for 2024 also include the German shepherd, poodle, dachshund, beagle, rottweiler, bulldog, and German shorthaired pointer.
AKC Executive Secretary Gina DiNardo commented on the French bulldog’s continued popularity, saying, “The Frenchie has solidified itself as America’s sweetheart, and it’s no surprise why. They are fabulous companions for a variety of people.”
Notably, the Cane Corso has made significant strides in this year’s rankings, demonstrating a notable rise in popularity among dog owners.
