In other animal-related incidents, the Russell Township Police responded to several calls regarding loose pets:
Pekin Road: On February 26 at 1:40 p.m., a resident reported a large brown dog with a black collar wandering near her home. Described as a possible Labrador mix weighing between 50-60 pounds, the dog was seen by the woman, who contacted both police and the dog warden. She provided her phone number in case the dog’s owner came forward.
Hook Hollow Road: At 2:30 p.m. on the same day, another resident reported a tan and black German Shepherd with a black collar in the road near her house. The dog’s tag identified it as “Rex.”
Additionally, officers handled other non-animal-related calls:
Kinsman Road: At 10:29 a.m. on February 27, a police officer noticed a vehicle with hazard lights flashing and an active car alarm. After stopping the car, the officer confirmed the driver was authorized by the vehicle’s owner.
Russell Road: Later that evening, at approximately 10 p.m., police were alerted by Chagrin Valley Dispatch about a large sinkhole on Russell Road. Officers inspected the area and found it to be a pothole, which was not an immediate hazard to drivers. The Geauga County Road Department was notified for repair.
Pine Hollow: On February 27 at 8:10 p.m., a resident reported their one-year-old dog, named “Sullie,” had jumped over a fence and run off. Described as a friendly, fuzzy black and silver dog weighing about 40 pounds, the dog was not located during the officer’s search.
