On this day in 2023, Suffolk Dog Town, formerly known as Ipswich Dog Day Care Creche, celebrated its fifth anniversary of providing exceptional care for pets in Ipswich. The doggy daycare, located in Farthing Road, Ipswich, threw a lively party to mark the milestone, welcoming both people and their dogs to join in the celebration.
Founder Clare Holmes reflected on the success of the business, noting that it had grown significantly since its inception. “We have a five-star licence with Babergh Council, which allows us to look after 40 dogs a day,” she shared. “Now, we’re looking after up to 200 dogs a week. It’s mad, but we love it!”
The journey to opening the daycare was personal for Clare, whose husband, Danny, an army veteran, inspired her to follow her dream of starting a dog care organization after his serious road traffic accident in 2005. “He turned around to me one day, and said, you need to find something for you, now,” Clare explained, leading her to pursue her passion.
The name change to “Suffolk Dog Town” reflected the expanding services the business offers, which include dog training, grooming, puppy socialisation sessions, and even dog photography. Clare emphasized that the daycare is more than just a business—it’s like family. “Without any exaggeration, this is a massive family,” she said. “We get to know the dog and the family.”
The community-focused Suffolk Dog Town continues to thrive, creating lasting bonds with both dogs and their owners.
